My name is Robert Punter and I have worked in marketing communications for over 30 years, engaged on some of the largest brands in the world, including Guinness, Hewlett-Packard, Motorola, Unilever and Walmart (Asda) to name but a few. For several years, I also sat on the Business-to-Business Committee of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising.
For the last decade, since making Scotland my home, I have been running my own company. Trading as Orchard, I help a number of local, national and international businesses fulfil their commercial objectives by helping to build brands - both offline and, increasingly, online. Given the vital role the web plays in both today’s business and social worlds, I have now added an Advanced Diploma in Digital Marketing and a Diploma in Graphic Design to my wide experience in traditional marketing and communications.
I work in a variety of sectors and with companies of different sizes - from large multinationals with big budgets to local businesses and organisations who don’t have quite as much to spend but for whom results-driven communication is equally important. You’ll find a selection of clients below. Just click on any of the images/logos to learn more.
When Michelangelo was asked how he was so good at carving figures, he observed that the statue already existed in the block of marble; his job was to find and release it. Orchard adopts a similar mentality, recognising that discovering the brand essence or personality in a corporation or business can be as hard as finding a figure in a block of marble.
Helping companies achieve maximum benefit from the web by producing an effective online presence is at the centre of my business. I offer planning and ideas, as well as website design, monitoring, maintenance and evaluation - all key tools in driving visitors to sites and making sure they return.
My objective is to make sure you get the most out of your online investment. And if the brief dictates and the budgets warrant, or if the project requires a wider mix of marcoms materials, I have a network of freelance specialists on whom I can call and with whom I have worked over the course of my career. This means no job is too small or too large.
Your brand communication starts with a concept. A deceptively simple concept that your audience can easily buy into. A concept that brings everything, and everyone, together: your markets, your messages, your website, your advertising, your literature, your videos, your events….your Brand.
If you don’t know where to start, or you want to re-evaluate where you are, I can help. I work closely with my customers to understand their online (and offline) business objectives and provide a bespoke package that will meet targets.
Orchard will design a bespoke website that’s personal to you and fits your individual requirements. Differentiation is the name of the game. Big ideas that resonate with your market, help build your brand and drive sales.
This has nothing to do with spam - I don't believe in intrusive email marketing. It's all about keeping in touch with your customers and prospects in a targeted, timely - and ‘opted-in’ - manner. It’s all about building data, understanding your audience’s behaviour and reaching them with your propositions as cost-effectively as possible.
The black art. What's the point in investing in a website and when nobody can find you? I can help you achieve good page rankings in Google and other search engines so that you get more relevant visitors to your site. Good analytical monitoring is also a must to ensure a return on your investment.
An up-to-date and regularly refreshed site is a must to bring back visitors time and time again. I can manage any changes that you might want to make on your behalf. Alternatively, I can provide you with a Content Management Solution (CMS) which will allow you to manage the site yourself if this is your preferred option.
If, or when, the Client brief dictates, I am able to bring in additional specialist support from a wide network of trusted partners. These include, among others, Brand strategists, designers, art directors, animators and copywriters.
As an audience-centric brand practitioner, Neil brings an artist's (as opposed to a designer's) approach to brands. Having worked with numerous global corporations for over three decades, he holds BAs in Social Sciences (UEA) and Fine Art (Chelsea College of Art), post-graduate diplomas in communication, advertising and marketing, and an MA in Fine Art (Central St Martins). Neil is attributed with putting the terms ‘Digital Consumer’, ‘Brand Symbiotics’, ‘Consistent Brand Promise’ (CBP), and ‘Brand Narrative’ into the lexicon of branding.
